Visiting Moms
Ann, our Visiting Mom from JCFS, Emily, and I in 2003.
When Emily was born, we lived on the East Coast, far from most of our family. The only people we knew in Boston were Chris's brother and sister-in-law. It's hard to make friends when you are on bedrest!
Enter Visiting Moms through Jewish Children and Family Services. The JCFS didn't care that neither my visiting mom nor I were Jewish- their goal was to pair new moms with experienced ones for companionship, support, and connection. Once a week, Ann would visit me and Emily, and would have done so for the first year of Emily's life, had we not moved back to the PNW shortly after this picture was taken. We've lost touch over the years, but I am forever grateful for her kindness.
I would love to create something like this in our community.
